Best Kelowna Newborn Photographers | Little Miss L | In Home Family Newborn Photographer
Seven day old newborns are on the top of my list as one of my absolute favourite things. So for me, being a Kelowna Newborn Photographer is totally my dream job. Right up there with being a wedding photographer.
Little Miss L was just seven days old for her Kelowna Newborn Photography Session. She had been born in a peace-filled home birth just the week before, and she was still so squishy and new and her big brother and big sister couldn’t get enough cuddles and kisses, and her mommy and daddy couldn’t be filled with more joy while watching their three sweet ones.
Not everyone understands what an in-home newborn session is like with me. It’s filled with soft music and white noise, hushed voices, cuddles and rocking, and pure peace. In my three years in this business, every single shoot has been just that: a peace-filled experience for baby and for the family, and a little known secret is these sessions bring me so much peace as well.
Amidst the soft music and cuddles my newborn sessions are filled with lots of quiet waiting. You can expect your newborn session to be between 1 and 3 hours long. Being a newborn photographer requires a special kind of patience. But this quiet waiting is like being on the top of a mountain top for me. There is so much awe and wonder in watching a brand new baby sleeping, and breathing, and just being.
And so I would like to share one of my most favourite newborn sessions with you today.
May it bring you joy and peace.
Kelowna Newborn Photographer | Baby Olivia | In Home Newborn Photography
Oh, Miss Olivia, how sweet you are, and what a wonderful and fun family you have and a bright future ahead of you!!
I was blessed to be able to come visit Olivia and her family at her In-Home Kelowna Newborn Photography Session. Since Mommy, Serena, is friends with dear Yuriko of Vintage Origami, we had the privilege of Yuriko styling a little bit of the session with her vintage suitcase and picnic basket.
I LOVE it when mamas have extra little personal touches waiting for me to adorn their babies with, like this super sweet pink bird swaddling blanket, and these cute teenie tiny headbands. Olivia has two older brothers, so I knew from the get-go that Olivia’s session was going to be 100% girl. These big brothers couldn’t be more proud. They are going to be FANTASTIC big brothers!
Congratulations guys!!! So excited about this splash of colour this little one is going to bring into your lives!
Kelowna Newborn Photographer | Baby Maia | In-Home Family Photography
Baby Maia was born to the two most adventurous people I have ever met! Keya + Rich are going to create a wonderful experience for this little one, as she grows.
I was excited to do this Kelowna Newborn Photography session in Keya and Rich’s home. We had been talking about this session for months and it was so exciting to finally meet little baby Maia!
Congratulations you guys!!
Kelowna Newborn Photographers | Baby Reese | West Kelowna Newborn Photography
Sweet little Reese was just days old when I had the pleasure of doing her in-home Kelowna Newborn Photography Session in West Kelowna. Her mama and daddy had discovered my baby whispering magic in the halls of Kelowna General Hospital, where I have gracefully plastered the walls in beautiful sleeping baby art work.
Reese is the most peaceful baby. I am sure she gets her easy-going vibes from her mama and daddy, who are some of the most easy to talk to clients I’ve ever had. Having never met little Reese’s parents, we sure had a lot to talk about from our shared occasional love of Kraft Dinner (as a comfort food), to what vacations you can go on and feel the slimmest while still eating so much food…. I think the session must have been over the lunch hour and we were super hungry. But Reese slept through the entire session, making my baby whispering job so easy.
I love when parents have special items ready for me when I arrive. In this case Lindsay had laid out two special blankets made by Grandma (whose hands are pictured), along with a few little headbands and a tiny little ruffly outfit, making this newborn session uniquely Miss Reese. Then at the end of the session unique turns a whole new page with Baby Reese stylin in a classic retro cherry red car, and Daddy’s heart went pitter patter.
Enjoy this sweet little babe and send her lots of love.
Kelowna Newborn Photographers | Baby Boy | In Home Newborn Photography
I love getting to go into people’s homes just days after a baby is home for in-home Kelowna Newborn Photography sessions. I often don’t meet the parents or family members until the day I arrive to take photos.
This family was an inspiration. Mommy is a Psychologist and my assistant and I felt like we had an instant friend. While daddy couldn’t join us, since he was at work, his art work filled the home and his presence was definitely with us. The floors you see are his handiwork. He individually crafted each piece of wood in this hard-wood floor. These two kiddos are blessed with great parents.
This little 11 day old baby boy is as sweet as can be and we even got some sweet alert shots of him and his big sister! Enjoy.
Best Kelowna Newborn Photographer | Baby Kennedy | In Home Newborn Photography Session
Little Miss Kennedy was born on Good Friday! Word on the street is that her hero of a mother who happens to be an awesome Kelowna Realtor, closed on a house for some clients WHILE IN LABOR (if you need a realtor, check out Marika Wolf! http://marikawolf.com/). This new little lady has a big role model in that mama of hers!
Kennedy’s big brother is Niko (just 2 years old), and he has a job cut out for him with this little heart throb. I know he’s going to be an amazing big brother.
Enjoy these photos of sweet little 8 day old Kennedy and her family in this “Kelowna In Home Newborn Photography Session”. I love it when I am able to photograph newborns within the first 10 days after they are born. Babies are most sleepy and most cuddly during this time, and it makes them a dream to photograph. I didn’t even have my assistant with me on this shoot, and Kennedy was as sweet as can be.
Best Kelowna Newborn Photographer | Baby Connor | In Home Newborn Photography
We met Chantal + Erik over 3 years ago, when they booked their wedding with us, and we began a great relationship with them. We’ve seen them through Engagement, to buying a home together, to renovating their home, to their wedding, sorrowful times, and then this MOST exciting time, bringing Connor home to grow their fresh new family.
It is always amazing being a newborn photographer, but it is EXTRA special when our Wedding Photography and Newborn Photography get to merge with the same clients. I felt extra blessed to be able to do this in-home Newborn Session.
Connor was born at Kelowna General Hospital just 8 days before this newborn photography session. He is a big little man, born at almost 10 pounds! And oh how we love big babies! I loved getting to watch Chantal cuddle her little man-cub in the window light. She definitely has a way with him, and you can tell just how much he means to her with every glance.
One of my favourite parts of this Kelowna Newborn Photography session was when Erik was helping me to lull Connor to sleep. All on his own, he picked up Peter Rabbit and read to him. Connor and Erik already have an amazing bond, and it’s always heart warming to see a daddy read to his baby.
Enjoy these photos of precious Connor! Congratulations Chantal + Erik! You guys are FANTASTIC parents!
Here are Chantal and Erik’s Engagement Session and Wedding Day!
Kelowna Newborn Photographer | Baby Oliver | In Home Newborn Session
Baby Oliver was born in March at Kelowna General Hospital, and I got to do his Kelowna Newborn Photography Session just a few short days after his birth. He is snuggly, chubby, warm, and perfect with his pouty lips and his adorable little furrowed-man-brow. And his mama has been blessed beyond measure with this happy little guy.
Speaking of Mama, Lauren has created the sweetest little nursery in their home. I love seeing elements from the family lineage used in the nursery, and Lauren has her first teddy bear, as well as her dad’s first teddy bear on display for Oliver. Everywhere you look, Lauren has put her warm loving touch into the decor for her little man-cub. From DIY crafts, such as the little framed owl prints, to her hand-made mobile, and little elements she picked up at a variety of places all over town, Lauren was ready for this little guy to enter her life. And you’ve never met a person more encouraging and thoughtful. Baby Oliver, is one blessed little guy.
(Totes off topic, but if you are looking for a fitness coach and program, Lauren is an amazing coach. She is one inspirational lady. Check her out on facebook! https://www.facebook.com/positiveandhealthyliving?fref=ts )
Kelowna Newborn Photography | Baby Grace | West Kelowna
Newborn Baby Grace was born in Kelowna this month. She’s the sweetest little 5 pound baby, all 18 inches of her, and she smiles so much in her dreams.
This West Kelowna in-home newborn session was filled with bright whites and splashes of pink and greys, just as all baby girl newborn sessions should be. Fresh white linens and swaddling blankets and all things warm, pale in comparison to the beautiful wedding veil with beautiful lace that mama Erin had waiting for me when I arrived at her home. We managed to keep in beautiful and clean white, and perhaps Miss Grace will wear the veil again one day on her own wedding day 26 years from now.
Kelowna Newborn Photography | Baby Kai | Barnett Photography
Last week we got to meet Baby Kai. His mommy, Chelsey, laboured from Christmas Eve until Boxing day when her and Daddy, Chris, were introduced to Kai at Kelowna General Hospital.
This Kelowna Newborn Photography session was by far one of our fave newborn sessions to date. Baby Kai is as sweet as can be. He is calm and relaxed (like his parents), and he was the perfect little model. He has a full head of the softest hair you will ever touch, and is perfect from head to toe.
We loved the way Chelsey decorated the nursery. Having found a great deal on a used glider chair, Chelsey’s mom re-covered the cushions with the perfect colours for the nursery, and making the chair look extra cozy and comfortable for those long nights of sweet baby cuddles at 3am. Chelsey incorporated some little touches in the nursery that belonged to her sister, in loving memory. Everything from the plush little stuffies to the painting done by a friend, to a little tree that Chelsey’s friends made with their thumbprints, makes this such a cozy little nursery.
Enjoy this little preview of a fraction of the amazing newborn photos Carly captured of this little 10 day old boy.
